HSTES step by step

  1. Register online on the official portal during the registration window and pay the fee.
  2. Fill and lock your choices of colleges and branches in order of preference.
  3. Check each round’s seat allotment and accept (freeze) or ask for an upgrade, as the rules allow.
  4. Upload documents or report for verification and pay the seat acceptance or admission fee by the deadline.
  5. Report to the allotted college with original documents.

Documents usually required

  • JEE Main admit card and scorecard
  • Class 10 certificate (for date of birth) and Class 12 marksheet
  • Category certificate (EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST) in the format the state requires, if applicable
  • Domicile or region proof (for home-state or Delhi region seats)
  • PwD certificate, if applicable
  • Photo ID (Aadhaar or similar) and passport-size photographs

Always use the document list in the current year’s brochure; formats and validity dates are strictly checked.

Choice-filling tips

  • Fill many choices, ordered by your real preference, not by expected cutoff.
  • Mix safe, likely and stretch options using last year’s closing ranks; check what your rank reached in JoSAA for comparison.
  • Do not drop a JoSAA seat until you have a confirmed better seat here.
  • Note every fee and refund rule before accepting a seat, and keep payment receipts.
