What the numbers mean
- More candidates qualify each year: 43,769 in 2023, 48,248 in 2024, 54,378 in 2025 and 56,880 in 2026, far more than the number of IIT seats. Qualifying is the first step; your rank decides the IIT and branch.
- The IIT Delhi zone has produced AIR 1 in each of the last three years.
- Top scores vary with the paper: AIR 1 scored 355/360 in 2024 but 330/360 in 2026, so compare ranks, not marks, across years.
After the result: what next
- Check which IIT programmes your rank reached last year: IIT by rank.
- Shortlist with the college predictor (add your JEE Advanced rank and your JEE Main rank for NITs).
- Register for JoSAA as soon as it opens and fill choices carefully; compare IIT cutoffs branch by branch.
- If you want B.Arch at IIT BHU, Kharagpur or Roorkee, register for the AAT immediately after the result.
