OJEE and Odisha B.Tech Admission Through JEE Main

How OJEE counselling admits JEE Main rank holders to B.Tech in Odisha, fees, native-only seats and the TFW scheme.

Quick answer

Most B.Tech admissions in Odisha’s state and private engineering colleges go through OJEE counselling (ojee.nic.in), and JEE Main Paper 1 rank holders can take part and are given preference over candidates with only an OJEE B.Tech rank. Register for OJEE counselling separately: your JEE Main rank alone does not get you a seat. Seats at NIT Rourkela and IIT Bhubaneswar are filled through JoSAA, not OJEE.

How OJEE counselling works for JEE Main candidates

  1. Register on ojee.nic.in when B.Tech counselling opens (usually June–July) and pay the non-refundable counselling fee (₹450 in 2026).
  2. Fill and lock choices of colleges and branches.
  3. Seat allotment follows rank, category and your choices, over several rounds.
  4. Accept and pay the part admission-cum-seat acceptance fee (in 2026: ₹10,000 for General, ₹5,000 for SC/ST/PwD), complete document verification and report to the college.

Who can claim reserved and fee-waiver seats

  • Reserved categories (ST, SC, SEBC, EWS) and sub-categories such as women, ex-servicemen, PwD and the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme are only for natives of Odisha with a resident/nativity certificate.
  • TFW seats need an online Resident of Odisha certificate and a parents’ income certificate below ₹8 lakh a year.
  • Candidates from other states can apply for the seats open to them, mainly in private colleges; check the seat matrix in the counselling brochure.

Central institutes in Odisha (through JoSAA)

NIT Rourkela and IIT Bhubaneswar admit through JoSAA. Odisha students get NIT Rourkela’s Home State seats, which close at later ranks than Other State seats:

JoSAA 2026 final round, General (OPEN), gender-neutral closing ranks. Home State seats are only for candidates whose Class 12 is from that state.

See every branch on the NIT Rourkela cutoff page, and plan both routes together with the college predictor and JoSAA counselling guide. Other states: state counselling.

Can I get B.Tech in Odisha with a JEE Main rank?

Yes. JEE Main Paper 1 rank holders can register for OJEE counselling for B.Tech and are given preference over OJEE B.Tech rank holders. You must register for OJEE counselling; it is separate from JoSAA.

Do I need to write the OJEE exam for B.Tech?

Not if you have a JEE Main Paper 1 rank: you can join OJEE counselling with it. The OJEE exam is used for other programmes and for B.Tech candidates without a JEE Main rank.

What is the OJEE counselling fee?

In 2026 the counselling fee was ₹450 (non-refundable), and the part admission-cum-seat acceptance fee was ₹10,000 for General and ₹5,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Who can get the Tuition Fee Waiver in Odisha?

Natives of Odisha with an online Resident of Odisha certificate and parental income below ₹8 lakh a year, on the TFW seats offered in participating programmes.
